Lostenen

Lostenen

A winding, stony trail takes hikers to the rocky terrain of Lostenen. Lostenen is 16 meters high and is one of Finland's largest glacial erratic stones. Lostenen was named after the lynxes (lodjur in Swedish) who made their home among the rocky outcroppings in the beginning of the 1900s. The stone has offered shelter to both people and wildlife. During times of trouble, people took shelter in the caves and crevices under the stone. Along the trail there are small bridges. Hikers can easily climb Lostenen via a set of well-built stairs. This lovely resting place invites the hiker for a short break or meal.
